The technology utilizes laccase enzymes derived from the fungus Ganoderma lucidum and recombinant Escherichia coli BL21 expressing the laccase (yacK) gene from Yersinia
enterocolitica. These laccases belong to the oxidoreductase enzyme family and catalyze oxidative degradation of textile dyes. The fungal laccase demonstrated superior efficiency, achieving 99.62% decolorization of Bromophenol blue dye within 24 hours. The technology enables enzymatic degradation of azo dyes, preventing formation of toxic, carcinogenic, and mutagenic intermediates. The enzyme activity is influenced by pH, indicating the need for optimized process conditions.
